Volunteering your time and expertise for the Lakeshore School community it critical to our school’s success. Many of our volunteer opportunities are on nights and weekends to accommodate working parents. Some options are annual events and others are ongoing; a volunteer opportunity can be found to fit your availability.
Volunteer Opportunities
Immediate Needs
The following positions have not yet been filled for the 2010-2011 school year:
- Auction and Winetasting Chairperson
- Volunteer Coordinator

During the School Day
- Volunteer in the classroom
- Attend field trips with your child
- Assist in the library
- Be a lunchtime recycling monitor
- Help organize daytime events like the Halloween parade, teacher appreciation lunches, Science fair, etc.
- Assist in the school office
- Answer phones in the office during Ms. Mao’s lunch break from 1:30-2:30
- Give school tours
- Monitor or lead activities during recess (A.K.A yard duty)
- Assist school enrichment programs
Weekends, Evenings, Any time
- Attend PTA meetings (Wednesday nights, monthly, see our calendar)
- Be a room-parent (class parent)
- Join or chair a committee* (see committee descriptions)
- Answer questions (mentoring) for incoming families
- Represent Lakeshore at open houses and enrollment fairs
- Document Translation
- Be a PPSSF school contact
*PTA Committees are responsible for event planning, fundraising, program support, administrative and communications support.

Community Members who are not immediate family members of a Lakshore student must first be cleared by San Francisco School Volunteers in order to work at the school site on an ongoing basis.
Already Volunteering?
All Volunteers should log their volunteer hours in the PTA volunteer log book which is located in the office. If you do not remember to record your hours when you come to the school you can also send an email message with your hours to the current PTA historian.
