Fundraising

There are several ways for the school community to help Lakeshore raise money:

  • Donate money
  • Donate classroom items
  • Fundraising events
  • Ongoing shopping or affiliation programs

Donate Money

A donation of ANY amount is appreciated and enrolls you as a Lakeshore PTA member. Membership does not require you to attend PTA meetings, although you are welcome and encouraged to help direct the spending of PTA dollars. All membership contributions are tax deductible (Federal Tax ID#: 94-3042896)

Online donations: We now accept donations by credit card (or paypal account) online via PayPal. (Detailed directions are here)

Cash or checks: Please fill out the PTA Pledge Form. and make your check payable to “Lakeshore PTA”. Deliver completed forms to the PTA mailbox in the office or send by mail to:

Lakeshore Alternative School PTA
220 Middlefield Drive
San Francisco, CA 94132

Please indicate if your donation is intended for a specific classroom fund.

Matching Funds: many Bay Area employers have programs to match donations given by their employees. The PTA has compiled a list of companies that have historically matched donations to non-profits. This list is not comprehensive and companies do change their policies from year to year so please ask your company’s benefits or HR department for more information.

Donate Classroom Items

Every teacher has put together a wish list of items they need for the classroom. If you have any questions your child’s teacher will point you in the right direction. Items should be given directly to the classroom teachers.

Fundraising Events

The Lakeshore PTA runs fundraising events throughout the school year. Volunteers are critical to the success of these events. Please volunteer or consider serving as a chairperson for one of the events. A description of the events is available on this website. If you are interested please send a message to the general PTA email address: lakeshore.help@gmail.com and you will be put in touch with the appropriate PTA Officer or Chairperson. The annual Lakeshore Wine-Tasting and Auction is our biggest fundraiser and has typically generated about 30% of the PTA’s funding. A list of businesses that donated to last year’s auction is available here. Please encourage our past donors by patronizing their businesses during the year.

Ongoing Shopping and Affiliation Programs

These are programs that generate money for the PTA when you shop without spending extra money. The programs work because companies have agreed to set aside some amount of money for purchases associated in some way by registered schools and participants. In previous years Lakeshore Parents helped fundraise thousands of dollars just by shopping as usual. Friends and relatives can sign up for any of these programs also, so pass along this information.

Escrip

An online fundraising program that lets you shop with your grocery, credit cards, and Macy’s cards, while helping Lakeshore. Sign up at www.escrip.com or call 800/254-5404. To sign up visit www.escrip.com. Register. Select Lakeshore PTA. Our group ID is: 137955443. Register your card(s). Registration is free and t’s completely safe. Add, change, or delete your cards throughout the year. You must renew every year!

Amazon.com

Through SchoolRewards, the Lakeshore PTA will receive between 4 and 10 percent of every Amazon purchase when shoppers use our SchoolRewards link to access Amazon. Bookmark this link:

http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=lakesalterele-20

This unique SchoolRewards link takes you directly to Amazon.com, where you can browse and shop just as you normally would. Each month, Amazon pays us up to 10% of all purchases made by shoppers who reached Amazon through our link. That includes products sold at Amazon by other companies, too.

Make this the first link you click each time you shop at Amazon. And be sure to pass it on to your friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances, and anyone else who might like to help us raise funds by shopping at Amazon.

Safeway

Ask your Safeway grocery store clerk for a Safeway Preferred card, if you do not already have one. Sign up on eScrip to register the card for Lakeshore. Each time you shop, hand your cared to the checkout clerk – even when you use cash.

Luckys

Purchases provide funds to Lakeshore every time you use your Lucky’s card. Cards are available in the Lakeshore office.

Rainbow Grocery

Rainbow Scrip are certificates (Scrip) in specific value that you purchase in advance. Use your Scrip when shopping to pay for your groceries. Contact the Scrip chairperson for information.

Office Depot

Office Depot gives 5% of every purchase, every time to Lakeshore. You don’t even have to know the school’s account number. The person at the cash register will look it up for you.

Target

A real credit card or a credit card specifically to use at Target. Apply for a Target Guest Card or VISA online or at the store and ask to designate Lakeshore Elementary as your school of choice for fundraising. Each time you shop online or in store using your Target card, Lakeshore gets a percentage of the sale.

Boxtops for Education

Cut off “Boxtops for Education” on food products (kids can do this). Please send boxtops in an envelope to school with your child or to the office. The classroom that brings in the most gets a party at the end of the year! Contact Rebecca Kennedy. More information at the Boxtops for Education website.

Campbells

Save the UPC (bar code) from Campbell’s soups, Swanson’s broths,Prego Sauce and Goldfish crackers. Send labels in an envelope to school with your child or to the office. These labels can be redeemed by the school for School supplies such as balls, megaphones, etc. More information on the Labels for Education website.

Scrip

Families can place an order to purchase gift cards each month. Use the cards to give as gifts or puchase them to buy your gifts or everyday items! There are over one hundred merchants available — Peet’s, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Safeway, Macy’s, AMC and Regent Movie Theatres, iTunes, … and many more. Lakeshore is given a percentage of the value of each card purchased (usually between 4-15%). The order form and list of retailers are available as PDF documents online.
