PTA Consultant Pool for The Arts & Sciences

The goal of this PTA-funded program is to support Lakeshore teachers in their efforts to provide students with an enriched curriculum in the arts and sciences.

The PTA employs professional consultants in dance/movement, music, theatre arts, visual arts, poetry, and science. Each classroom is funded for approximately 20 hours (varies with our annual budget) of these enrichment classes.

Teachers choose consultants from the area(s) that they feel will best complement their particular classroom’s curriculum for the current school year, so each classroom will have a unique blend of consultants for the allotted 20 hours. Teachers are also free to vary the mix of consultants they wish to employ from school year to school year. Therefore, upon graduating from Lakeshore, each student will have had a different cumulative level of exposure to each consultant.

The classroom teachers are also instructing their students in the arts and sciences, of course. While the professional consultants enrich the basic curriculum, they do not replace it entirely.

Lakeshore teachers and students benefit tremendously from our superb PTA consultant pool enrichment program, which, like all PTA programs, is funded through the diligent fund-raising efforts of Lakeshore’s parents, staff, and faculty.

Also, if a teacher chooses visual arts instruction for a portion of the 20 hours, these visual arts classes are IN ADDITION TO the guaranteed professional art classes offered to all students through the separate PTA-funded program known as Lakeshore’s Studio Art Program.
